Lone Mountain in Las Vegas
Lone Mountain is named after a solitary hill located in the northwest portion of central Las Vegas. It attracts a wide variety of people, including joggers, horseback riders, and hikers. The Lone Mountain Trail winds up the west side of the mountain, and there’s even a bench for you to sit down on should you need to rest.
Lone Mountain Discovery Park is a recreational part of the community. This park includes a green space with a roller hockey rink, tennis courts, and place for visitors to enjoy picnics. There is also another recreational spot known as Majestic Park, which is a softball facility.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Academy is on Lone Mountain also, as is the Police Memorial Park. The park includes the Memorial Wall as well as two dedicated tree groves that memorialize local police officers who died in the line of duty. Two of those trees are dedicated to the police force Ten-13, or the retired New York Police Officers of the September 11th tragedy. This area has a low rate of crime. This is due to the numerous law enforcement officers who reside in this community.
The homes in Lone Mountain range from Spanish Colonial horse ranches to luxury “mini-estates” by Blue Heron Homes. There are also 3-story, mid-century revival homes that were designed by a man named William Ramsey.
